Receiving 2 Satellites with One Dish

If you want to receive signals from 2 satellites that are close to each other, such as Astra 1 (19.2°E) and Astra 2 (28.2°E) then you can usually get away with using one dish and a special mount with 2 LNBs on it. With this type of mount, each LNB is slightly off center. The amount off-center is adjustable. Bear in mind that when standing behind the dish Astra 1 is to the right of Astra 2, BUT the LNB for Astra 1 is on the LEFT and the LNB for Astra 2 is on the RIGHT. The dish should be aimed at some point in between or towards the satellite with the weakest signal. Don't expect it to be easy to set up because it's not.

Now you've got your 2 (or more) satellite signals, you might want to connect them to a single satellite receiver. You do this using a DiSEq switch. Basically you connect a cable from each LNB to the switch and a cable from the switch to the receiver. You then program your receiver to operate the switch (you might need the user manual for this!). The signals for controlling the switch go up the same cable that the satellite signal comes down. By putting the switch on the roof (out of the rain), you only need the one cable coming into the house.
