Channel 5 on Satellite

Channel 5

I have reprinted this article from the Roquetas magazine "La Revista" since it seems to be a subject close to many people's hearts.

As many of you with a Sky system will know, getting Channel 5 in these parts is either not easy or impossible due to their poor signal strength here. Now there is good news, they also broadcast on another frequency.

Follow the following instructions carefully to set up an alternative stronger signal for channel 5:

  • Press: - Services Button
  • Press: - 4 system setup
  • Press: - 4 add channels
  • Use the up and down arrow buttons to highlight 'Frequency'
  • Using number buttons enter: - 12421
  • Press: - Down Arrow to highlight 'Polarisation'
  • Press: - Right Arrow so next polarisation is an H
  • Press: - Down arrow 3 times to highlight 'Find Channels'
  • Press: - Select
  • Your receiver will search for new channels then display page 'NEW CHANNELS'
  • Press: - down arrow to highlight 7505
  • Press: - Yellow Button
  • Check there is a tick next to 7505
  • Press: - Select
  • Press: - Sky Button

You have now successfully programmed an alternative frequency for viewing channel 5. Now for the not-quite-so-good news. This channel is not available in the normal viewing mode, so each time you want to view you must follow the instructions below:

  • Press: - Services Button.
  • Press: - No 6 button. (if you are asked for pin number it is normally the last 4 digits on your card)
  • Using up & down arrows highlight 7505.
  • Press: - Select.

You are now viewing an alternative stronger channel 5 signal. There is, however, no channel or program information available on this frequency.
